PRP treatment for hair loss is a procedure that uses the patient’s own blood to promote hair growth.
The cost of the procedure typically starts at $495. The procedure usually takes around 30-60 minutes. Recovery time is minimal, with most patients returning to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
Common side effects include redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site. These side effects usually resolve within a few days after the procedure.
Both men and women suffer from hair loss, which can be genetic or a sign of underlying health conditions, such as thyroid disease for example. We do recommend our clients to find the cause of their hair loss and treat the cause first. But, in conjunction with internal medical therapies, we do offer hair restoration services, including PRP
PRP treatment, platelet enriched plasma, includes extraction of plasma serum from your own blood and microinjection of this serum directly into the scalp. Your plasma contains growth factors produced by platelets, these growth factors stimulate regeneration of hair follicles to promote formation and growth of new follicles. Overall, this treatment results in thicker and healthier hair.
Stimulation of hair growth: The growth factors present in plasma activate the hair follicles to promote the formation and growth of new hair.
Thicker and healthier hair: The treatment leads to healthier hair as it nourishes the scalp and hair follicles.
Non-surgical procedure: PRP is a non-surgical procedure that uses the patient’s own blood, making it a relatively safe and low-risk option.
Minimal downtime: Unlike other hair restoration treatments, PRP has minimal downtime and patients can resume normal activities soon after the procedure.
It is important to note that multiple treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, are usually recommended to achieve optimal results.
At Desert Bloom Skin Care Center, PRP treatment is performed by our experienced provider, Dr. Natalya Borakowski. Here’s what you can expect during the procedure:
Consultation: During the consultation, Dr. Borakowski will review your medical history and discuss your hair growth goals. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the procedure.
Blood draw: A small sample of your blood will be drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood components.
Preparation of PRP: The plasma is then prepared for microinjection into your scalp.
Microinjection: The prepared PRP is then microinjected into the scalp using a thin needle. The microinjection process takes around 30-45 minutes. In some cases we will also perform microneedling procedure to further increase blood flow to your scalp to stimulate hair growth
Recovery: After the procedure, you can expect some mild discomfort and redness at the injection site, but these side effects usually resolve within a few hours.
At Desert Bloom Skin Care Center, we are dedicated to helping you achieve your hair growth goals, and Dr. Borakowski will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan.
Blood disorders: Patients with blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia or platelet dysfunction may not be suitable candidates for PRP treatment.
Cancer: Cancer patients receiving active treatment should not undergo PRP treatment.
Autoimmune diseases: Patients with autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis may not be suitable candidates for PRP treatment.
Blood thinners: Patients taking blood thinners such as warfarin or heparin should discontinue the use of these medications before undergoing PRP treatment.
